Political Science

Get into politics

Studying political science at Morningside College gives you a “front-row” seat to learn about, observe and participate in the political process. State and national candidates — including contenders for the Republican and Democratic presidential nominations — regularly appear on campus during the lead up to the Iowa caucuses every two years and the Iowa presidential preference caucuses every four years.

You can take an active political role in the College Democrats or College Republicans and join the Morningside Civic Union, a campus organization that promotes awareness of political and social issues. You also have a wide range of internship and networking opportunities with congressional offices, political campaigns, national advocacy organizations, and state and local governments.  A curriculum that emphasizes international as well as American politics – and offers chances to study abroad – allows you to explore diverse cultures, issues and political systems. You also have the option to major in international affairs.
