Below are a few success stories from Morningside College students.
Maddie Cannon, Senior
“I decided to leave home in Southern California and travel 1,300 miles to come to Morningside College. I was nervous but eager to leave home for the first time and come to a school where I knew I would excel. To this day, I’m so happy about my choice to come here to get my Bachelor of Science in Nursing where I’m learning something new everyday and I feel like I’m making a difference.”
Jamie VanderKooi, B.S.N, R.N., 2011 alumnus
Jamie VanderKooi knew she wanted to be a nurse ever since she visited relatives in the hospital as a young child. A few years later, Morningside helped her get the job she wanted at that very same hospital.
Today, Jamie works at UnityPoint Health - St. Luke's in Sioux City as a clinical nurse educator while pursuing a master’s degree with Morningside to become a nurse practitioner.
"The professors at Morningside push you to take advantage of every opportunity you're given; to be leaders in our profession and to get involved in activities to make a change for the better. They know that's how you're going to learn the best.”
