Boiler Operator
Morningside University is accepting applications for the position of Boiler Operator in the Physical Plant Department. This position is responsible for the maintenance and preventive maintenance of boilers, pumps, traps, coils and holding tanks and may also be asked to assist in other maintenance projects as needed. The normal workday will be 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday and will follow an on call schedule as needed.
Responsibilities:
Boiler Maintenance
- Maintain day to day operation of boilers.
- Make repairs as needed to boilers, steam boilers, coils, traps and holding tanks.
- Boilers cleaned, inspected, monitored for chemicals and safety.
- Maintenance of heating valves, traps, and radiators.
- Pumps packed and greased
Plumbing Maintenance
- Assures that drinking fountains, bottle fillers and water features are maintained and in good working order.
- Assists with faucet repair, toilet repair and other plumbing issues as requested.
- Maintain equipment dedicated to operation of cafeteria services.
- Assist when needed in clearing drains.
Preventive Maintenance
- Participates in setting a schedule for needed preventive maintenance.
- Completes preventive maintenance according to schedule.
- Completion of various plumbing duties and tasks as needed by the work order system.
Qualifications:
- Good plumbing skills
- Holds City Hydronic Engineer License
- Knowledgeable about industry standards
- Good communication skills and works well with others
- Heavy work may be required at times
