Assistant Professor of Biology

The Department of Natural Sciences at Morningside University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biology to begin August 11, 2025.

We are looking for a candidate who is committed to 1) teaching excellence in a highly student-centered environment, 2) developing a research program engaging undergraduate students, and 3) service to the college. The successful candidate will teach freshman-level general biology courses as well as upper-level courses in candidate’s area of specialty. Faculty will teach in the university’s general education programs as needed. Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to teach courses in environmental biology. Candidates with a PhD in Biology or a closely related field are preferred, ABD will also be considered. The teaching load is 24 credits per year which includes a May term once every three years.

Morningside is a private university located in Sioux City, Iowa, that serves approximately 2,300 students from almost all 50 states and more than 30 countries. It was established in 1894 by The United Methodist Church, an affiliation it continues to maintain, and Dr. Albert Mosley serves as its 13th president. The main campus comprises 69 acres nestled in a serene, park-like setting in the heart of Iowa’s fourth largest city. Lags Farm and Sioux Gateway Airport are both nearby extensions of the campus that serve the School of Agriculture and Aviation.
