The Academic Support Center, located on the 2nd floor of the library, is open to all Morningside students. The staff at the Academic Support Center at Morningside College helps students
improve or strengthen their academics by providing free assistance in the following
areas:
1. WRITING TECHNIQUES
Are you having problems with comma usage? Do you know how
to document using MLA, APA, or Chicago style? Writing specialists are available
to help students with the basics as well as help proficient
writers who want assistance for particular writing assignments or projects. The specialists do not proofread, but they can help you see the strengths and weaknesses
of your paper.
2. TUTORS (for current tutor availability click on schedule link below)
Staff and student tutors are available for students who want
help in areas such as accounting, biology, chemistry, economics,
history, math, science, religion, and sociology. Hours vary and are posted at the Academic Support Center, 2nd floor of the learning center.

Campus Ministries
at Morningside College seeks to support and develop the spiritual
life of Morningside students, staff, and faculty.
Opportunities include
interdenominational worship of various formats, weekly Bible
studies, faith formation groups, mission trips, service
projects,
and other opportunities designed to help the Morningside
community grow in faith.
The Campus Pastor
is located in the Student Services office on second floor,
Lewis Hall and is available to support students individually

Morningside College has been providing residential students
with personal computers (PCs) since 1993. Since the fall of
2002, all new, full-time students have been issued notebook
computers.
The campus-wide
network connects every residence hall, lab, classroom, and
office computer to the Internet and the World Wide Web. Students
have continuous access to e-mail and the campus library's
online resources (as well as catalogs of thousands of other
libraries via the Internet).
Computer print
stations equipped with laser printers are located in each
residence hall and are accessible to all resident students
24 hours a day. The college's residence hall computing manager
and student assistants maintain and service college-owned
computers for all students living in the residence halls.
This staff provides user support for all college-supplied
software and hardware. Freshman orientation sessions introduce
students to the capabilities of their new computers.

Morningside College
offers counseling for individuals and couples. Many college
students experience homesickness, insecurities, test anxiety, roommate conflicts, depression, feeling overwhelmed, etc. Assistance is available through Morningside College's
Counseling Services. Counselors utilize various tests such as:
the Beck's Depression Inventory, the SASSI (a substance abuse
screening test), the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and the
Campbell Interest and Skill Survey.
Ulifeline
web site provides Morningside College students with a free
resource on drug information, mental health, and a screening
diagnostic that allows students to be screened for depression,
suicide, and several other disorders, including alcohol and
drug dependence, eating disorders, generalized anxiety disorder,
and obsessive-compulsive disorder privately through their
own computer.
Campus
Blues is an excellent resource where students can read self-help articles about various topics from dealing with roommates to handling stress.

Sodexho Cafeteria
Morningside College contracts with Sodexho Food Service to
provide campus meals to residence hall students. Several meal
plan packages are available. Students get a nutritionally
balanced diet and varied menu in the main dining room in Olsen
Student Center. Unlimited "seconds" are available!
There is also a food committee comprised of students who work to keep the food service first-rate.

Student Center, serves meals and snacks on weekdays. "Food
Bucks" may be purchased at the Business Office (1st Floor, Lewis Hall). This includes Bucks charged to student accounts as well as those purchased by cash or check.

of the Olsen Student Center. There is no charge to visit either
the registered nurse or the physician/nurse practitioner on
duty.
Any student taking 9 or more hours -- we must have your

The Student Post
Office is located in the lower level of the Olsen Student
Center across from the Bookstore. All students with
12 or more hours will be assigned a post office box on campus
and encouraged to check it daily. The box number and
combination will be distributed when you arrive on campus
for Orientation. If you lose your post office box information,
stop by the Post Office during open hours or stop by Student
Services on the 2nd floor of Lewis Hall to get your box number
and combination information.
If you need to know
the address before you arrive to campus, the following address
will get all mail to you:

Once you arrive
to campus, you will simply add your box number to the address
listed above.
Mail can be received
and sent from the Student Post Office. Packages can
be received, but can only be sent from the College Mailroom,
located in the lower level of Lewis Hall.

Your phone will
have a single ring when your call is coming from on campus. Your phone will have a double ring when your call is
coming from off campus.
All phones, including
yours, have voice mail capability. If your phone rings
4 times, it will automatically switch to voice mail and the
person calling may leave a message.
If the phone beeps
while you are on the phone, it means that you have another
incoming call. Press the HOLD button, hold down the
switch hook (hangs up phone), and your phone will ring again.
Release the switch hook and say hello. To switch
back to your previous call press the HOLD button again.
In order to check
your messages:
a. If the red light is lit on
your phone, you have a message! GO TO STEP 1.
b. After
11:00 pm or on weekends, if the red light is NOT on, but
you know that you have messages.... dial 5795 and wait for
the
recording and GO TO STEP 2.
c. If you'd like to receive notification of your messages
after 11:00 pm, contact Julie Bamrick by calling 5182 or
0.
1. You may access your message by picking up the receiver
and pressing the CALL BK button (located in the row above
the numbers).
2. AS SOON as you hear the Morningside recording you
may enter your access code.... Your code is 9_ _ _ _ (the
last four digits of your phone #).
Make sure that
you enter 9 before the digits of your phone # or it won't
work!!!

operator during the day at 274-5182 or by pressing 0 from
an on-campus phone.
