Curry Seed has had a need for college aged adult supervisors as summer employees over the last 20
years. The employment would start when the Spring semester ends and last until fall football practice
begins. The hours would start at 7:00am in Elk Point at our shop and end at 6:00pm Monday through
Friday. If weight training needs to be earlier, we will work around their schedule.
Work would consist of helping with the planting of seed corn and soybeans, sorting and receiving seed
corn, cleaning equipment, and supervising 14-18 year old kids in rogueing and detasseling. We have
enough work for 4 men who could travel together to share transportation. When supervising crews,
a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) to drive the busses would be necessary. Curry Seed would
pay and instruct anyone interested in acquiring a CDL while working at Curry Seed.
Pay checks are issued every two weeks. The amount of pay would be $9.00 per hour to start.
Then, based on experience, supervisor capability and CDL, pay would go to $11/hour. There
are times when we could work Saturday and Sundays depending on the weather and are trying to
complete jobs before the weather changes. On Sundays, pay would increase to the rate of time and
a half.
The work is not physically demanding, but it is outdoor work. They would be working with others who
have prior experience. Most of the time the men would be supervised and instructed carefully about their
jobs. When questions need to be answered Bill Curry is available and working nearby or with crews.
