Assistant/Associate Director of Employer Relations

Career Development Office  Grinnell College 

 

Responsibilities and qualifications: The candidate must have excellent written and oral skills, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies.  This position directs the external relations and recruiting programs with employers seeking to hire talent. Strategically cultivates and strengthens communication with and between employers, students, alumni, faculty, and development.  Maximizes student employment outcomes and college resources, and expands new employment opportunities. Cultivates long-term relationships with employers. Strategically constructs and manages year-round recruiting activities of the career development office.  Provides high level counseling services to include one-on-one career advising, resume and cover letter development, interviewing techniques and strategies, job search techniques, assessments, and overall career exploration.  Oversee operations in the absence of the Director.

 

Participate actively in Divisional and College activities and leadership:  lead or serve on Student Affairs and College committees; advise students and student groups; attend campus events; support Student Affairs and College initiatives.  Remain professionally active and current; affiliate with appropriate professional organizations in career development and higher education fields; attend and present at regional and national professional conferences; remain current regarding related professional practices, legislation, and other appropriate trends.  Other duties as assigned

Master's Degree in College Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education Administration or Human Resources Management.  Four to five years of relevant program management, recruitment planning, public relations, career services or human resource experience. A combination of career advising in a professional or university setting and business industry work experience preferred.
