Supervisor, Work Comp Claims
SALARY: Based on qualifications of selected candidate.
HOURS: 8:30 A.M – 4:30 P.M. Mon-Fri START DATE: ASAP

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform the following daily supervisory tasks for assigned adjusters both in South Sioux City and in Knoxville as primary or backup to other supervisor:
1. Review and audit files for compliance, results, coaching, learning and accuracy of reserves
2. Orient and train employees
3. Coordinate workloads among staff and assigns daily work
4. Manage job performance of the reporting staff
5. Troubleshoot problems
6. Assist Adjusters in developing proactive strategies that will lead to the ultimate resolution of claim files and to assure follow through by the adjusting staff
7. Assure losses assigned to staff are handled in a prompt and professional manner
8. Assure all complaints are documented and addressed
Participate in the following supervisory activities with Manager, Work Comp Claims who retains final authority for these actions:
1. Assist with the hiring of staff, screen, interview, assess, and make recommendations
2. Coach, develop and appraise employee performance
3. Conduct annual merit pay reviews and raises
4. Establish goals and performance work standards
5. Reward and discipline employees
Investigate, negotiate and settle case losses as assigned by the Manager, Work Comp Claims.
1. Travel to new accounts to familiarize them with GWCC reporting and systems procedures.
2. Visit current accounts to assist them with concerns and to keep them informed of changes in laws.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Vocational Training: Bachelors degree or equivalent in related career experience.
Work Experience: Minimum 7 years combined experience in supervision and claims adjusting. Workers Compensation adjusting experience preferred. Prefer knowledge of multiple states’ workers compensation laws.

5. Above average math skills, aptitude for ‘probability’ thinking and analytical skills.
6. Above average verbal and written communication skills. Ability to relate and interact with all levels of business people inside and outside the company.
7. Exceptional PC skills, technology proficient.
8. Goal oriented, driven to do it right.
9. Ability to adapt quickly to changes and other situations that require immediate transition
10. Willing and able to travel via company and/or commercial aircraft and auto as appropriate, must have a valid driver license and an acceptable MVR.
11. Specific Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
Ability to regularly sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear; occasionally stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and operate a motor vehicle; occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to comprehend and to use technical/professional language to communicate complex ideas; use logic to define problems, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret information for unique or unfamiliar situations.
