Internal Audit Director - Great West Casualty Company
SALARY: Based on qualifications of selected candidate.
HOURS: 8:30 A.M – 4:30 P.M. Mon-Fri START DATE: ASAP

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide assurance that the Western Audit Group (WAG) companies including GWCC, BITCO, ORINSCO, ORCPG, PAM, ORSAC and, ORINSCO of Canada has effective controls to appropriately minimize the risks of errors, losses, noncompliance, and fraud. Recommend potential improvements to these controls.
2. Select, orient, train, delegate, develop, resolve employee issues, and evaluate performance, provide rewards and discipline. Forecast department needs, set objectives and budgets and develop strategies.
3. Provide direct assistance to the external audit firm in the financial audits of GAAP and statutory financial statements and representations made in periodic internal and external financial reports adhering to all appropriate professional standards.
4. Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls which include analyzing adequacy of fraud detection, defalcation and safeguard of company assets.
5. Complete internal audit support for the WAG companies. Plan, perform and direct financial, operational, compliance and IT audits including; risk assessment, scheduling, reporting, ensuring appropriate follow up on open observations, and developing appropriate time budgets.
6. Lead/facilitate the annual risk assessment process and develop annual internal audit plan. Monitor progress against audit plan including periodic reporting to management and the Audit Committee. This includes collaboration with the ORI Director of Internal Audit and other audit directors throughout the consolidated company.
7. Review the SEC reporting packages, Executive Expenses Certifications, and provide Sarbanes-Oxley control support for the WAG companies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Vocational Training: Bachelor’s degree with major in business discipline, CPA and/or CIA
Work Experience: Minimum six years auditing experience with Public Accounting firm or Internal Audit Department with experience auditing financial services companies, insurance experience preferred. Experience as an Internal Auditor of an insurance company preferred

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
1. Thorough knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley, insurance auditing, controls, accounting and insurance company operations and regulations
2. Knowledge of Federal Income Tax regulations
3. Knowledge of EDP systems, personal computers and electronic spreadsheets, and internal controls of same
4. Excellent analytical skills, ability to evaluate insurance company operations
5. Ability to handle complex reporting relationships professionally
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
7. Managerial and supervisory skills and talents: mission, focus, entrepreneurial leadership, personal professional growth orientation, stamina, courage, relater, and coach/developer of people
8. Ability to be flexible in meeting ever-changing customer needs
9. Able and willing to travel, must have valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR.

16. Specific Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
Ability to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear; occasionally stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, operate a motor vehicle, and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to comprehend and to use technical/professional language to communicate complex ideas; use logic to define problems, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret information for unique or unfamiliar situations.
