Claims Support Specialist - Great West Casualty Company

DEPARTMENT: Claims Support Services .
SALARY: Depends on qualifications of selected candidate, minimum $11.65/hour .
HOURS: Schedule: Mon –Fri 8:30am-4:30pm

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May perform any combination of the following, primary or backup. The percentage of time spent in each task area is determined by the primary or backup status of the incumbent along with work load which changes daily. Due to security reasons, some duties cannot be performed in conjunction with each other; therefore the percentage will be zero.*
1. Claims Payment Processing; verify supporting documentation and process four types of print for mailing.*
2. Enter data such as reserve changes, field name changes, subrogation, collections, risk report request, and form letters.*
3. Image tasks:
a) To prep, scan and index mail/fax using the image processing system.
b) Handle no-numbered mail, routing new losses to OCPs.
4. Transcribe dictation from adjusters, lawyers, managers.
5. Process work comp med bills
6. Maintain permanent records and batch filing.
7. Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Vocational Training: High school diploma or equivalency, with emphasis on clerical office skills.
Work Experience: Three years clerical office experience, insurance helpful.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
1. Good data entry skills, Minimum Numeric: 125 key strokes/min.; Alpha/numeric: 105 key strokes/min.
2. Knowledge of and the ability to utilize PC/Windows based environment.
3. Good math aptitude, accurate use of 10-key calculator.
4. Knowledge of numerical filing procedures
5. Good grammar, punctuation and proofreading skills.
6. Ability to grasp technical and procedural tasks.
7. Good organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
8. Ability to prioritize and handle fluctuating work loads.
9. Good communication and telephone skills, ability to communication with a variety of people.
10. Ability to investigate and search for pertinent information.
11. Ability to take direction from various sources.
12. SPECIFIC COGNITIVE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to: regularly sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear; occasionally stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; for primary duties in mail/file room-occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, for primary duties in payment processing, data entry and transcription-occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to comprehend and use basic English language, both written or spoken, to communicate information and ideas; formulate and apply appropriate course of action for routine or familiar
