• PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR, $86,021-$120,455/ANNUALLY/DOQ. Under general direction of the City Manager, functions as the administrative head of the Engineering Department and is the final departmental authority in all matters of policy and operation; organizes, directs and controls all Engineering activities and coordinates the interdepartmental activities of the Engineering, Field Services and Environmental Services Departments; acts as the City’s primary authority on public works issues; performs other related work as required. The Public Works Director will provide expert guidance and leadership to the management team, staff, City Manager, City Council in the areas of developing departmental policy, preparing and planning long-term public work programs, planning and directing flood emergency operations and providing overall budgetary guidance. The typical qualifying entrance background is graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in civil engineering, public administration, business administration or a closely related field. Ten years of broad and extensive experience in all major phases of public works and civic capital improvement administration including at least five years of responsible management experience. Professional Engi-neering Certification is strongly desired, or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the re-quired knowledge, skill and abilities.
