March of Dimes Internship Program Job Description: -Work in a non-profit setting -Help with all aspects of fundraising -Work to recruit and train volunteers -Help distribute educational materials to area agency, clinics and hospitals -Help prepare electronic newsletters -Help prepare mailings -Make solicitation calls Intern will be expected to participate in the following activities: -Research and become familiar with the mission and structure of the March of Dimes -Attend at least one Siouxland Division Board Meeting -Attend one March of Dimes Staff meeting in Des Moines -Attend volunteer committee meetings -Go with staff on a one on one meeting with community leader -Help plan and work the day of one of the three major March of Dimes fundraisers -Assist at a Health Fair Complete the internship gaining the following skills: -Familiar with various aspects of a non-profit agency -Able to write an agenda and plan a volunteer committee meeting -Feel confident in making a request to support a non profit organization -Will be able to create excel documents -Will be able to create electronic newsletters -Be able to set a work schedule and follow the schedule -Plan and implement a fundraiser -Speak confidently about the mission of an agency.
