Assessment is an important tool to assist in career development and exploration. Assessment can help investigate interests, create new occupational ideas, reaffirm decisions and add other factors that may be important in your decision. In addition, assessment can help identify patterns of related occupational areas.
Morningside College offers three on-line assessments for students who are struggling with major/career decisions.
The Discover program measures your interests, abilities and work values and identifies occupations that match all or most of your assessment results. This interest assessment is most appropriate for first or second year students.
Choices measures interest, abilities, and work values. Choices has an additional feature that allows you to identify occupational areas by earnings, outlook, working conditions, physical demands and other lifestyle choices to select specific careers that match your topics. This assessment is most appropriate for juniors and seniors.
Type Focus is an assessment that determines your personality type and offers career selections based upon that type. This assessment will determine what careers are best for you based upon your communication skills, ability to relate to other people, and the types of activities you like best. This assessment is appropriate for all age levels.
All assessments offer reports on various occupational titles.
All assessment tools require a password. Please contact Career Services at x5254 or hays@morningside.edu or stop in Room 219 Lewis Hall to request a password.
