Let's hear that voice
Morningside offers several vocal ensembles and choirs that perform a wide range of music from classical and traditional to jazz and show tunes.
All Morningside students are welcome to participate in music ensembles regardless of major. Some scholarships are available for students planning to join one of the vocal music ensembles, which are listed below.
The Morningside College Choir
An auditioned group of about 35 students that performs frequently on and off campus. The ensemble tours every year. Recent tours include a trip to Italy where students performed in Rome, Venice and Florence, as well as a trip to New York City where the choir performed at Carnegie Hall. The choir also has traveled to China and to Eastern Europe.
This group combines the Morningside College Choir, Singing Men of Morningside and Bel Canto Singers. It regularly performs major choral/orchestral works with the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra. It also is a large part of the annual concert "Christmas at Morningside" that has become an important tradition at the college and a must-see event for our community.
Eclectix Vocal Jazz Ensemble
An ensemble that performs an eclectic mix of jazz, show and pop tunes both a cappella and with a rhythm section. The group has been featured at jazz festivals, on public radio broadcasts and at local events throughout the Siouxland community.
An opportunity for singers to form small ensembles and perform staged scenes from operas and operettas.
One of the newest vocal ensembles on campus. If you really liked performing with your high school show choir, you may want to check out our group of singing and dancing Morningsiders.
