Fun for the whole family
The Betty Ling Tsang Fine Arts Series at Morningside College was designed to bring a range of quality music and theatre performances to the people of Sioux City and the surrounding communities at no cost to them. Each year the series is filled with children's plays, musicals and more, including the Holiday Pops Concert featuring the Sioux City Symphony each year around the 4th of July.
The series began in 2008 as the Betty Ling Tsang Summer Fine Arts Series with the construction of the Buhler Outdoor Performance Center. In 2013, the series expanded with productions taking place all year utilizing Eppley Auditorium and Klinger-Neal Theatre.
The series is named for the late Betty Ling Tsang, who graduated from Morningside College in 1940 with a bachelor's degree in music. In 1999, her daughter Mila Tsang McDermott established a music scholarship in her mother's name at Morningside to help other Chinese students attend college to study music. The Betty Ling Tsang Fine Arts Series will further benefit students and ensure that everyone in the community will have the opportunity to enjoy the music that was so much a part of her life.
The performances in this year's series include:
- A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
- Holiday Pops Concert with the Sioux City Symphony
- Snow White & the Missing Dwarfs
- Putting it Together
