The Morningside College Alumni Association recently honored seven members of the college’s 2009 graduating class with outstanding senior awards. The alumni association presented the awards in the name of the late Brooke Simmons Goodwin, a 1999 Morningside graduate who had served as a member and past president of the alumni board. She died in December 2008.
Recipients of the outstanding senior award included Brady Helmick, a chemistry major from Fairbury, Neb.; Kari Hansen of Sioux City, an elementary special education major; Yuici Ichinose, a nursing major from Tokyo, Japan; Jonalee Jackes of LeMars, Iowa, a corporate communications and advertising major; Joel Peplinski, a psychology major from Sioux City; Tarah Sagedahl of East Bethel, Minn., a political science major; and Alex Watters of Sioux City, a political science major.
A committee of Morningside faculty and staff selected the award recipients based on the student’s commitment to campus life, academic achievement and service to the Sioux City area community.
