Scott Tschetter has been hired as head coach to start up the varsity men’s volleyball program at Morningside College announced Morningside athletic director Tim Jager.

The Mustangs’ men’s volleyball team is scheduled to begin varsity competition during the 2014-15 academic year.

Tschetter has been the head women’s volleyball coach at Iowa Lakes Community College, where his teams have compiled a record of 444-271 over the past 16 seasons. Tschetter has guided the Lakers to six National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament appearances over the last eight years. Tschetter, a six-time NJCAA District Coach of the Year, has led Iowa Lakes to six regional championships and four regional runner-up finishes.

“Tschetter will be an outstanding addition to our athletic staff,” Jager said. “His extensive coaching experience and strong connections in the volleyball network will help him make an immediate impact in our new men’s volleyball program.”

Tschetter’s coaching career began at North Iowa Community High School, where he was the school’s head wrestling coach from 1990-97 and the head volleyball coach from 1994-97. Tschetter had an 80-20 career record and led North Iowa to its first-ever conference championship as the school’s head volleyball coach.

Tschetter is a 1980 graduate of Wartburg College.
