Morningside clinched at least a share of the GPAC regular season women’s tennis championship when the Mustangs romped to a 9-0 victory against Mount Marty on Thursday in Yankton, S.D.

The Mustangs, who won their first-ever GPAC title, have won their last seven duals to raise their record to 9-4, including a perfect 6-0 mark in the GPAC. The Mustangs can win the title outright with a victory against three-time reigning league champion Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday in Sioux City.

The Mustangs made easy work of the Lancers, who played with an incomplete lineup and forfeited the No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles flights.

Morningside won all five singles matches in straight sets, dropping one game or less in three of the triumphs. Kathryn Jones had the most lopsided victory with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Michaela Ramm in the fifth flight, while Katie Hanson and Amanda Przymus dominated their matches with 6-1, 6-0 wins in the first and fourth flights.

Morningside will wrap up the regular season on Saturday with a 9 a.m. home dual against Nebraska Wesleyan.
