Morningside is ranked 18th in the nation in the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches Post-Season Top 25 Poll released on March 26.

The Mustangs, who were ranked 12th in the final regular season poll, had a 10-game winning streak snapped when they lost 76-72 against No. 23 Oklahoma Wesleyan University in the first round of the NAIA Division II National Tournament.

Morningside finished the season with a record of 25-9. The Mustangs qualified for the national tournament as the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Post-Season Tournament champion with an 87-85 victory against GPAC regular season champion Dordt College in the title game. The Mustangs, the GPAC’s regular season runner-up, went 3-0 against Dordt this season.

The Mustangs are one of three teams from the GPAC ranked in the NAIA II Post-Season Top 25. Aside from Morningside, Midland University is ranked second and Dordt is 14th.
