Morningside College will present Stephen Sondheim’s “Putting It Together: A Musical Review” at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, and Saturday, Aug. 9, in the Buhler Outdoor Performance Center, 3625 Garretson Ave., on the college’s campus.

The free performances are part of the Betty Ling Tsang Fine Arts Series at Morningside College.

The show covers one night and 40 years, taking place in 200 B.C., 1853, 1882, 1900, the 1950s, the 1970s, the 1980s and that night. Sondheim himself devised the unique musical from his own work. It includes songs from every score he has ever written, as well as some never heard before. It has been described as Sondheim’s funniest show of all time.

In the event of rain, the performances will move to Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave., on the Morningside campus.

The Betty Ling Tsang Fine Arts Series is named for the late Betty Ling Tsang, a 1940 Morningside College music graduate. It is designed to bring free, quality music and theatre performances to residents of the Sioux City area.

Construction on the Morningside campus restricts parking near, and access to, the Buhler Outdoor Performance Center. Parking is available behind the Olsen Student Center on Peters Avenue and in the Lewis Hall visitor lot, the Facilities Services lot along Garretson Avenue, the east portion of the Grace United Methodist Church lot and the Eppley Auditorium lot.
