Morningside College jazz ensembles will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in Eppley Auditorium on the Morningside College campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

Morningside College jazz ensembles will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave, on the Morningside College campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

Ensembles performing will be Eclectix Vocal Jazz, Jazz Combo, Jazz Lab I and, new this year, Jazz Lab II. The program will feature a variety of styles within the jazz genre.  Selections will include works by Duke Ellington, Neal Hefti, Mark Taylor, and popular jazz standards such as “Recorda-me,” “All of Me” and “Sugar.”

These ensembles’ objective is to bring the finest vocal and instrumental, traditional and contemporary jazz literature to their audiences, as well as represent Morningside College in the community.

Tony Hutchins directs the instrumental ensembles. Hutchins is the director of instrumental jazz and low brass at Morningside. Tim Watson directs the vocal ensemble. Watson is assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Morningside.
