Mark Abrams and Neeia Cooperwood have been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Track & Field Athletes of the Week for April 7-13.

Abrams, a sophomore from Glenwood, Iowa, is the Men’s Track Event Athlete of the Week, while Cooperwood, a junior from Omaha, Neb., is the Women’s Field Event Athlete of the Week.

Abrams won the 10,000-meters with a school-record time of 32:19.30 and finished second in the 5000-meters with a time of 15:36.94 at last weekend’s Sioux City Relays. His time in the 10,000-meters broke the former Morningside standard of 32:21.11 set by Garret Ehlers last year.

Cooperwood finished second in a field of 43 jumpers with a distance of 19-5 1/4 in the long jump at the Sioux City Relays. Her distance is the best in the NAIA so far this season. Cooperwood also won the 100, 200, and 400-meters at the Sioux City Relays and was named the MVP in the women’s collegiate division for the second year in a row.
