Patawaran Earn First-Team All-GPAC Laurels
Brooke Niles,
a freshman forward from Sioux City, was the leading scorer
for the Morningside College women's soccer team during the
2003 season.
Niles scored 18
goals and nine assists for 45 points. She led the team with
her 18 goals and 45 points and was the Mustangs' co-leader
with three game winning goals.
Janel Gillies,
a senior forward from Bremerton, Wash., and Niya Branch,
a freshman midfielder from Sioux City, also had three game
winning goals.
Gillies also led
the Mustangs with 10 assists and ranked second on the team
with 11 goals and 32 points. She is Morningside's all-time
career leader with 67 goals, 30 assists, 164 points, and 14
game winning goals.
Branch was the Mustangs'
fourth leading scorer with six goals and six assists for 18
points.
Kyla Marking,
a senior from Albuquerque, N.M., had a 9-11-1 record, 115
saves, 3.8 shutouts, and a goals against average of 2.63 goals
per game as the Mustangs' primary goal keeper. She is Morningside's
all-time career leader with 19 victories, 7.6 shutouts, and
a goals against average of 2.17 goals per game. She finished
with a career record of 19-13-1 for a .591 winning percentage,
also a Morningside career best.
Megan Winn,
a senior midfielder from Palmer Lake, Colo., scored 10 goals
and seven assists for 27 points to add to her career totals.
She ranks second in the Mustangs' annals with career figures
of 42 goals, 24 assists, and 108 points.
The 2003 season
also marked the end of Jenifer Patawaran's career.
Patawaran, a senior defender from Bremerton, Wash., ranks
third in Morningside history with 22 career assists and 56
career points and fourth with 17 career goals.
Morningside posted
a 10-11-1 record and reached the semifinals of the Great Plains
Athletic Conference Playoffs during the 2003 campaign.

And Rustwick Named All-America Scholar-Athletes
Jenifer Patawaran,
a senior defender from Bremerton, Wash., and Crista Rustwick,
a senior defender from Sioux City, have been named 2003 Daktronics-NAIA
Women's Soccer All-America Scholar-Athletes.
Patawaran has a 3.77
cumulative grade point average (GPA) with a major in industrial/organizational
psychology.
Rustwick has a 3.99
cumulative GPA with a major in English Education.
Patawaran and Rustwick
were also named NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes last year.
Daktronics-NAIA All-America
Scholar-Athletes must have junior or senior academic standing
and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
Patawaran, a four-year
starter, scored three goals and two assists for eight points
during the 2003 season. She ranks third in Morningside history
with 22 career assists and 56 career points and fourth with
17 career goals.
Rustwick, a four-year
letterwinner, was named to the 2003 College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District VII College
Division Women's Soccer First-Team earlier this year. She
received second-team CoSIDA Academic All-District honors last
year.

Crista Rustwick,
a senior defender from Sioux City, has been named to the 2003
Academic All-District VII College Division Women's Soccer
First-Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors
of America (CoSIDA).
Rustwick has a 3.99
cumulative grade point average (GPA) with a major in English
education. Her 3.99 GPA is the second highest among the 11
student-athletes selected to the first team.
Rustwick, a four-year
letterwinner, received second-team Verizon Academic All-District
honors in addition to NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete laurels
as a junior.
She has made the
Morningside Dean's Honor List and Athletic Director's Honor
Roll after each of her first six semesters at the college.
Members of the CoSIDA
Academic all-district teams must be a starter or important
reserve of sophomore or higher status with a cumulative GPA
of 3.20 or higher.
Morningside's women's
soccer team has a 10-11-1 record this season.
Niya Branch
and Jenifer Patawaran have been named to the 2003 All-Great
Plains Athletic Conference women's soccer first-team as selected
by the league's women's soccer coaches.
Branch, a freshman
midfielder from Sioux City , is the Mustangs' fourth leading
scorer with six goals and six assists for 18 points.
Patawaran, a senior
defender from Bremerton , Wash. , is sixth on the Mustangs'
scoring chart with three goals and two assists for eight points.
Patawaran, a four-year starter, ranks third in Morningside
history with 17 career goals, 22 career assists, and 56 career
points.
The Mustangs' Brooke
Niles and Megan Winn were each named to the All-GPAC
second-team.

She is the all-time leading scorer in Morningside history
with 67 career goals, 30 career assists, 164 career points,

Zuerlein, a sophomore
midfielder from Lincoln , Neb. , has one goal and one assist
for three points.
