Bowen And Kuchar Named To All-GPAC Team
Mustangs Finish 4th In Final GPAC Standings

Morningside women’s golf head coach Todd Sapp has announced the names of six high school recruits who will join the Mustangs next season.
The recruits are:
Sarah Davy of Saint Paul, Minn. Davy is a 2010 graduate of Saint Paul Como Park High School, where she was a four-time all-conference performer. She had a nine-hole scoring average of 48 as a senior and led Saint Paul Como Park to its first-ever city conference championship. Davy was the individual medalist with an 89 at the conference 18-hole tournament and finished third with a 50 at the conference nine-hole tourney.
Davy had a nine-hole scoring average of 50 and was the individual runner-up with a 95 at the conference 18-hole tournament as a junior. She had scoring averages of 52 as a sophomore and 55 as a freshman. Davy was the medalist at nine competitions during her prep career, including four tournaments as a junior.
Maggie Dykstra of Sibley, Iowa. Dykstra is a 2010 graduate of Sibley-Ocheyedan High School, where she was a four-time All-Siouxland Conference performer.
Kelsey Nelson of Rockford, Ill. Nelson is a 2010 graduate of Belvidere North High School, where she was the NIC-10 Conference individual champion each of the past two seasons. She won the NIC-10 title this past season with scores of 76 and 82 for a 158 and was also named the NIC-10 Most Valuable Player.
Nelson carded scores of 81 and 80 for a 161 to win the NIC-10 title during her junior campaign. That season she also finished second at sectionals with a 79 and had scores of 89 and 84 for a 173 at the Class AA state tournament. Nelson qualified for the Class AA state tournament as a sophomore to become her school’s first-ever state tourney qualifier. She carded scores of 95 and 93 for a 188 at the state tourney.
Cameron Oakley of Sioux City. Oakley is a 2010 graduate of Sioux City North High School, where she was a three-time Missouri River Activities Conference (MRAC) champion and the 2008, 2009, and 2010 city champion.
She finished 21st at the Class 4A state tournament as a junior with rounds of 88 and 93 for a 181.
Megan Ohlendorf of Sioux City. Ohlendorf is a 2010 graduate of Sioux City East High School, where she helped lead her team to this year’s MRAC championship. She was the individual medalist at this year’s 12-team Storm Lake Invitational with a 90 to lead the Black Raiders to the team title. Ohlendorf was also the medalist at two dual meets as she helped lead East to an undefeated record in duals. She had a nine-hole scoring average of 48.
Renee Van Beaumont of Omaha, Neb. Van Beaumont is a 2010 graduate of Millard North High School, where she helped lead the school to a fifth place finish at this past season’s Class A state tournament. She finished 18th in the individual standings at the state tourney with rounds of 95 and 95 for a 190 total.
Van Beaumont finished 20th at the Class A state tournament with scores of 97 and 91 for a 188 as a junior to help lead Millard North to a fourth place finish in the team standings. She was Millard North’s No. 3 scorer at the Class A state tournament as a sophomore with rounds of 108 and 99 for a 207 total to help lead the team to an eighth place finish in the Class A standings.

Jenny Bowen, a senior from Aurelia, Iowa; and Danielle Kuchar, a freshman from Meadow Grove, Neb., were each named to the 2010 All-Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Golf Team as selected by the league’s head coaches.
Bowen led the Mustangs with a scoring average of 85.8 strokes per 18 holes over the fall and spring seasons and carded a 73 on Sept. 9 at the Briar Cliff Invitational for the lowest women's golf score in Morningside history. Bowen led the Mustangs with an 83.0 scoring average in the fall and had an 89.5 scoring average in the spring. She finished 15th in the individual standings with a total of 344 strokes at this year’s four GPAC Qualifier tournaments.
Kuchar had an 88.3 scoring average in the fall and led the Mustangs with an 85.8 scoring average in the spring for an overall scoring average of 87.2. Kuchar was the Mustangs’ top finisher in the four GPAC Qualifier tourneys with a 343 to finish 14th in the individual standings.
Morningside’s Alyssa Kacmarynski, a junior from Ida Grove, Iowa, was named to the All-GPAC honorable mention list. Kacmarynski had scoring averages of 96.8 in the fall and 92.0 in the spring for a combined average of 94.4.
Morningside finished fourth in the final team standings at the four GPAC Qualifier tournaments with a score of 1,411 to finish just one stroke out of third place.

Morningside finished sixth in the final GPAC Women’s Golf Qualifier of the 2009-10 season held Thursday at North Sioux City’s Two Rivers Golf Course.
Danielle Kuchar led the Mustangs with and 86 and Alyssa Kacmarynski was right behind with an 87.
Morningside finished in fourth place in the final combined standings with a four-tourney total of 1,411 strokes to finish just one stroke out of third place behind Dana College.
Kuchar had the Mustangs’ top individual finish in the combined scoring with a 343 for 14th place.

Morningside was the team champion at the Doane Invitational golf tournament held Monday and Tuesday at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb.
The Mustangs finished with a two-day total of 762 to reign over a four-team field. Runner-up Nebraska Wesleyan University finished 11 strokes back with a 773.
Danielle Kuchar, a freshman from Meadow Grove, Neb., was the women’s runner-up medalist with a 178. She had rounds of 86 and 92. Teammate Jenny Bowen, a senior from Aurelia, Iowa, finished third in the individual standings with rounds of 90 and 89 for a 179. Erin Hedlund, a freshman from Hinton, Iowa, carded scores of 99 and 97 to finish fifth with a 196. The Mustangs completed their team score with a 209 from Lindsey Sorenson, a sophomore from Council Bluffs, Iowa. Sorenson finished ninth in the individual standings.
Morningside’s Alyssa Kacmarynski, a junior from Ida Grove, Iowa, finished sixth in the individual standings with a 197, but was not involved in the team competition.
The Mustangs will compete in the Nebraska Wesleyan GPAC Qualifier on Monday, Oct. 5, in Lincoln, Neb.
