Morningside was eliminated from the NAIA Volleyball National Championship tournament after a 29-27, 25-21, 25-14 loss against 13th-ranked Georgetown College in Thursday’s pool play finale.

Georgetown and undefeated Concordia University of California will move on from Pool A to this weekend’s single-elimination bracket tourney. Morningside finished the season with a record of 17-16 to extend its streak to 12 consecutive winning seasons.

The Mustangs started strong against Georgetown and built an early 9-4 lead in the first set when seven of their first 16 attack attempts resulted in kills. Maggie Vondrak had three of the early kills, while Gabi French and Anastasia Ott each had two. Briana Schaeuble then reeled off four kills to lead a spurt that pushed the Mustangs’ lead to 17-10.
