Break Two School Records During 2003 Campaign

Lori
Van Meeteren, a 5-9 senior outside hitter from Sheldon, Iowa,
was named to the 2003 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC)
volleyball all-conference second-team as selected by the league's
head volleyball coaches.
Van Meeteren led
the Mustangs' attack with 501 kills for an average of 3.53
kills per game during the 2003 campaign. She also topped the
team with 80 ace serves for an average of 0.56 ace serves
per game, had 29 solo blocks and 87 assisted blocks for a
team-high average of 0.82 blocks per game, and ranked second
on the team with 412 digs for an average of 2.90 digs per
game.
Her 80 ace serves
is a new Morningside single-season record, while her 501 kills
was the fourth highest single-season total in Morningside
history.
Van Meeteren led
the Mustangs with 30 double figure kill performances and had
the Mustangs' top individual kill effort of the season with
26 in a 3-1 victory against Mount Marty College on Oct. 18.
She finished her
career with 164 ace serves and 1,428 career digs for the second
highest totals in Morningside history. Van Meeteren ranks
third in Morningside history with a career average of 3.01
digs per game and 10th with 1,042 career kills.
In addition to Van
Meeteren, the Mustangs' Angie Hogue, a 5-11 senior middle
blocker from Carroll, Iowa, was named to the All-GPAC honorable
mention list.
Hogue was the Mustangs'
second leading attacker with 461 kills for an average of 3.36
kills per game. She led the team with 34 solo blocks and ranked
second on the team with 77 assisted blocks and an average
of 0.81 blocks per game. Hogue also had 315 digs and 30 ace
serves for averages of 2.30 digs and 0.22 ace serves per game.
She slammed a season's
high 23 kills in the Mustangs' match against Jamestown College
on Aug. 30.
Hogue earned second-team
NAIA All-Region IV honors in 2002 when she averaged 2.78 kills
and a team-high 3.79 digs per game.
Hogue finished her
career among Morningside's all-time dig and kill leaders.
She ranks fourth in school history with 1,225 career digs
and sixth with 1,170 career kills. Hogue averaged 3.12 digs
per game during her career for the second highest average
in Morningside history, while her career average of 2.98 kills
per game ranks seventh in school history.

Break Two School Records During 2003 Campaign
Morningside College
's volleyball team posted a 24-17 record during the 2003 season.
Combined with their
27-9 record the previous season, the Mustangs' 51 victories
over a two-year span is their most wins over a two-year period
since Morningside's 1995 and 1996 teams also combined for
51 triumphs.
Mustangs
Break Ace Serve Record
Morningside had 300
ace serves during the 2003 season to break its former record
of 290 ace serves in a season set by the school's 1991 team.
The Mustangs averaged 2.10 ace serves per game.
Van
Meeteren Shatters Individual Ace Serve Mark
Lori Van Meeteren,
a 5-9 senior outside hitter from Sheldon, Iowa, led the Mustangs
with 80 ace serves this season to shatter the former Morningside
single-season record of 67 ace serves by Kate Ankrum in 1996.
Van Meeteren's average of 0.56 ace serves per game was the
second best figure in the Mustangs' annals and just .01 off
Ankrum's school record of 0.57 ace serves per game in 1994.
Van Meeteren also
led the Mustangs' attack with 501 kills for an average of
3.53 kills per game. Her 501 kills was the fourth highest
single-season total in Morningside history, while her average
of 3.53 kills per game was the 10th best mark in school history.
Van Meeteren was also the Mustangs' season's leader with 87
assisted blocks and an average of 0.82 blocks per game.
She finished her
career with 164 ace serves for the second highest total in
Morningside history. Her career average of 0.35 ace serves
per game also ranks second in Morningside history. Van Meeteren
also ranks second in Morningside history with 1,428 career
digs, third with a career average of 3.01 digs per game, eighth
with 208 career assisted blocks, ninth with 57 career solo
blocks, and 10th with 1,042 career kills.
Hogue
Ranks Among Career Leaders
Angie Hogue, a 5-11
senior middle blocker from Carroll, Iowa, finished her career
among Morningside's all-time kill and dig leaders. She ranks
fourth in school history with 1,225 career digs and sixth
with 1,170 career kills. Hogue averaged 3.12 digs per game
during her career for the second highest average in Morningside
history, while her career average of 2.98 kills per game ranks
seventh in school history. She is eighth in the Morningside
record book with 58 career solo blocks, ninth with a career
average of 0.61 blocks per game, and 10th with 182 career
assisted blocks and a career average of 0.26 ace serves per
game.
Hogue slammed 461
kills this season for the ninth highest total in Morningside
history. She had a team-high 34 solo blocks for the eighth
highest total in the Mustangs' record book.
Vande
Kamp Tops Team In Assists
Samantha Vande Kamp,
a 5-8 freshman setter from Sioux Falls, S.D., led the Mustangs
with 1,537 assists for the third highest single-season total
in Morningside history. Her average of 10.82 assists per game
was the eighth highest average in the Mustangs' annals.
Honsbruch
Is Mustangs' Digs Leader
Lindsie Honsbruch,
a 5-10 junior outside hitter from Danbury, Iowa, led the Mustangs
with 429 digs for the sixth highest single-season total in
Morningside history. Honsbruch's average of 3.25 digs per
game was the 10th best average in Morningside history.
Her 56 ace serves
this season was the fifth highest total in Morningside history
and her average of 0.42 ace serves per game was the seventh
best average in school history.
Honsbruch has climbed
into sixth place in the Mustangs' record book with 1,182 career
digs and ranks ninth in Morningside history with 117 career
ace serves.
