Jennifer Gould, a freshman from Milford, Iowa, and Jeremiah Schrock, a junior from Central City, Neb., competed in the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Louisville, Ky.

Gould finished 25th in the women's high jump competition with a height of 5-3.

She had entered the competition ranked eighth among the competitors with a school-record height of 5-6 1/4, which came at the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Outdoor Championships on May 7 at Blair, Neb.


Gould, who is also the Mustangs’ indoor high jump co-record holder at 5-5, placed 10th at the NAIA Indoor Championships earlier this year.


Schrock finished 18th in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 176-0.


He had entered the competition ranked 13th among the qualifiers with a season’s best throw of 194-7 which also came at the GPAC Outdoor Championships.

Jennifer Gould, a freshman from Milford, Iowa, broke the Morningside College women’s high jump record during Saturday’s Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Blair, Neb.


Gould cleared 5-6 ¼ to break the former Morningside record of 5-5 ¾ set by Meredith Davis in 2002. Gould’s height was good for a fifth place finish.


The Mustang women also received a place winning effort from their 1600-

meter relay team of Candice Whitney, a sophomore from Hinton, Iowa; Jill Bottolfsen, a sophomore from Hartington, Neb.; Emily Grabow, a freshman from Fort Calhoun, Neb.; and Annie McInnis, a freshman from Omaha, Neb., who placed sixth with a time of 10:22.5.


Anthony Rezac, a freshman from Brainard, Neb., was the Mustangs’ top performer in the men’s competition. Rezac placed third in the 100-meters with a time of 10.88 seconds and seventh in the 200-meters with a time of 22.12 seconds.


Jeramiah Schrock, a junior from Central City, Neb., was fourth in the men’s javelin throw with a distance of 194-7. Ron Bay, a senior from Sioux City, placed fifth in the 800-meters with a time of 1:56.40.


Steve Wise, a sophomore from Shelby, Iowa, had the Mustangs’ only other place winning effort in the individual events with a seventh place time of 10:21 in the 3000-meter steeplechase.


Jacob Trettin, a freshman from Grafton, Iowa; Kasey Hoffman, a freshman from Watertown, S.D.; Jama Farah, a sophomore from Sioux City; and Jeremy Meyers, a senior from Berthoud, Colo., combined for a third place finish in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 3:26.37.


Morningside added an eighth place finish in the 1600-meter relay, where Rezac, Trettin, Farah, and Bay combined for a time of 3:26.37.


Morningside finished in ninth place with 26 points in the men’s standings and 11th in the women’s standings with seven points.

Mustangs Announce MVP Award Winners

Morningside has named its Most Valuable Players for the 2005 indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.


Jama Farah was named the Indoor MVP and Jeramiah Schrock was named the Outdoor MVP for the Mustang men’s team. Jennifer Gould was named the Indoor MVP and Valerie Gibson was named the Outdoor MVP for the Mustang women’s team.


Farah ran the third leg for a Morningside 3200-meter relay team that finished first at the GPAC Indoor Championships and eighth at the NAIA Indoor Championships. He also placed sixth in the 1000-meters at the GPAC Indoor Championships.


Schrock has been a consistent placewinner in the javelin and hammer throw throughout the outdoor season. He has season’s bests of 162 feet in the javelin and 151 feet in the hammer throw.


Gould tied a school record of 5-5 in the high jump en route to a 10th place finish at this year’s NAIA Indoor Championships.


Gibson placed ninth in the 100-meters and 10th in the 100-meter hurdles at this year’s Sioux City Relays.


Kasey Hoffman and Jayme Wetzel received the Most Improved Awards for the men’s and women’s teams.


The Mustangs will compete in the GPAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 7 at Blair, Neb.

Gould 10th In Women's High Jump At NAIA Championships

Jennifer Gould, a freshman from Milford, Iowa, finished 10th in the women’s high jump with a school-record tying performance during Saturday’s final day of competition at the 2005 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Memorial Center in Johnson City, Tenn.


Gould cleared 5-5 to tie a Morningside record first set by Michaela Webb on Feb. 22, 2002.


Six competitors who finished ahead of Gould also bowed out at 5-5. The final place winners were determined by the fewest number of missed attempts.

Mustangs 8th In 3200-Meter Relay At NAIA Championships

Morningside College finished eighth in the men’s 3200-meter relay during Friday’s competition at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Memorial Center in Johnson City, Tenn.


The Mustangs’ quartet of Ron Bay, a senior from Sioux City; Jacob Trettin, a freshman from Grafton, Iowa; Jeremy Meyers, a junior from Berthoud, Colo.; and Jama Farah, a sophomore from Sioux City, combined for an eighth place time of 7:55.66.


The Mustangs ran their fastest time of the season, topping their previous best of 7:55.91 which they used to win the event at this year’s Great Plains Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 19 at Sioux Center, Iowa.


Morningside’s Jennifer Gould, a freshman from Milford, Iowa, will compete in the women’s high jump during Saturday’s competition.

Mustangs Win 3200-Meter Relay At GPAC Indoor Championships

Morningside College won the men’s 3200-meter relay at the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships held Saturday, Feb. 19, at Sioux Center, Iowa.


The Mustangs’ quartet of Ron Bay, Jacob Trettin, Jeremy Meyers, and Jama Farah combined for the winning time of 7:55.91.


Trettin and Farah also scored points for the Mustangs with sixth place finishes in the individual events. Trettin placed sixth in the 800-meters with a time of 1:59.51, while Farah was sixth in the 1,000-meters with a time of 2:37.32.


Morningside’s Billy Mallett was sixth in the men’s 200-meters with a time of 22.97 seconds and Josh Creekmore was sixth in the men’s long jump with a distance of 21-9.


The Mustangs finished ninth in the men’s team standings with 14 points and 12th in the women’s standings with one point.


The Morningside women scored their point in the 3200-meter relay, where Candice Whitney, Jill Bottolfsen, Emily Grabow, and Annie McInnis placed sixth with a time of 10:26.34.
