Both records were set by Jack Rother, a 6-3 junior guard from Wolbach, Neb., in the Mustangs’ 85-77 triumph against Johnson & Wales University on Nov. 4. Rother set school single-game records with 20 made free throws and 22 free throw attempts. He broke the former Morningside record of 17 made free throws by Tim West against North Dakota State University on Jan. 31, 1998, and by Tom Regan against Dana College on Jan. 21, 2006. Rother’s 22 free throw attempts against Johnson & Wales broke the Mustangs’ previous record of 21 free throw attempts by Regan in last season’s Dana game.

Rother was the Mustangs’ leading scorer with an average of 19.1 points per game as well as their best free throw shooter with a team-high 146 made free throws in 175 attempts for 83.4 percent. Rother was the Mustangs’ leading scorer in 20 of their 32 games and had the team’s top individual scoring performance of the season with a career-high 35 points in the win against Johnson & Wales. He climbed into 14th place on Morningside’s all-time scoring list with 1,188 career points.

Thomas Pargett, a 6-3 junior forward from Syracuse, Neb., was the Mustangs’ leading rebounder with an average of 6.5 caroms per game. Pargett was Morningside’s leading rebounder in 20 of its 32 games and had the team’s top individual rebounding efforts of the season with career-high 13-board hauls in the Mustangs’ 79-70 win against the University of Sioux Falls on Nov. 18 and in their 87-57 victory against Dana College on Jan. 20.
