Three-year starter as defensive back and quarterback. Earned
second-team Class 1A all-state honors as a defensive back
from the Iowa Newspaper Association following a senior campaign
where he had 47 solo tackles, 18 assists, four interceptions,
and three fumble recoveries. Also earned first-team all-district
honors and received Mason City Newman's Most Valuable Player
and Most Valuable Defensive Player awards. Completed 51 of
102 pass attempts for 713 yards and seven touchdowns as senior.
