Four-year letterwinner and three-year starter finished his career as one of the best hitters in Morningside history with a .380 career batting average. Collected 184 hits in 484 at-bats with 37 doubles, six triples, 11 home runs, 110 RBIs, 152 runs scored, 95 base on balls, and 44 stolen bases over Morningside career. Also a standout defensive back for Mustangs' football team. Entered the 2005 season as Morningside's co-record holder with 15 career interceptions. Earned second-team NAIA All-America in addition to first-team All-GPAC honors in 2004. Received honorable mention NAIA All-America honors and first-team All-GPAC recognition as sophomore. . .2005 Data- Earned NAIA honorable mention All-America honors in addition to NAIA All-Region IV and first-team All-GPAC laurels. Topped Mustangs in hitting and ranked ninth nationally in the NAIA with a .435 batting average. Collected 77 hits in 177 at-bats with 15 doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 45 RBIs. Established Morningside single-season records with 65 runs scored and 49 base on balls. Also topped team with 77 hits, 18 stolen bases, .610 slugging percentage, and .558 on-base percentage. . .2004 Data- Hit .316 with 17 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 35 RBIs, 44 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases en route to honorable mention All-GPAC honors. Led Mustangs with 17 doubles for the second highest single-season total in Morningside history. Also topped team with 24 base on balls. . . .2003 Data- Hit .472 with 42 hits in 89 at-bats to ranke third nationally in the NAIA. Hits included five doubles, two triples, and two home runs. Topped Mustangs with 42 hits, 24 RBIs, 31 runs scored, .640 slugging percentage, and .550 on-base percentage. Ranked second on team with 13 stolen bases. Also Mustangs' relief ace out of the bullpen with a team-high five saves. Had 0-1 record with 7.39 earned run average in 13 appearances. . .2002 Data- Hit. 220 with one home run and six RBIs in 29 games, including 12 starts, as freshman. . .High School Data- 2001 graduate of Sioux City Heelan High School. Named the Sioux City Journal's 2001 Male Metro Athlete of the Year after starring for Heelan's football, wrestling, baseball, and track & field teams. Batted .352 during prep baseball career and set Heelan record with 172 career hits. Earned all-state honors as senior when he led Iowa's Class 3A state champions with a .435 batting average, eight doubles, six triples, eight home runs, and 46 RBIs. Led Crusaders' football team with 59 tackles and four interceptions as senior. Also caught nine passes for 266 yards for average of 29.6 yards per catch and averaged 13.4 yards on punt returns. Received first-team Class 4A all-state honors from Iowa Newspaper Association and second-team all-state laurels from Des Moines Register as defensive back. Posted 146-29 career record during wrestling career and graduated as Heelan's only four-time state qualifier. Went 36-5 as a senior en route to third place finish in the Class 3A 152 lb. division of the state meet.
