Played in 22 games as freshman, mostly as a pinch-running specialist. Scored nine runs and stole two bases in three attempts. Collected four hits in eight at-bats for a .500 batting average. Had a 5.48 earned run average in five pitching appearances. Allowed seven hits with five walks and four strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched. Also a sprinter for Mustangs' indoor track & field team. Placed sixth in the 200-meters with a time of 22.97 at the 2005 GPAC Indoor Championships. Ran leadoff leg for Mustang 400-meter relay team that finished seventh at the GPAC Indoor Championships. . .High School Data- 2004 graduate of Westwood Community High School. Earned second-team Class 2A Iowa Newspaper Association all-state and first-team Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA) All-District laurels as an outfielder following a senior season where he batted .587. Earned second-team IHSBCA all-state honors as a pitcher after a brilliant senior campaign where he had a 12-1 record with a 0.30 earned run average. A two-time All-Maple Valley Conference performer.
