Mustangs Win Hip Hop Competition
Mustangs Reign At Valentine's Classic
Dance And Cheer Days Planned For Feb. 18 And March 15
Mustangs Have Third Place Finishes At Iowa State Championships
Morningside College’s dance team was presented with an Academic Excellence achievement banner at Dance Extreme’s USA AmeriCup National Dance Championship held last February in Minneapolis, Minn.
Twenty-two teams received the recognition with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. The Mustangs’ dance team, coached by Lindsey Christiansen, had a cumulative GPA of 3.35.

Morningside’s dance team won the hip hop competition at the 2013 DX AmeriCup Championships held Feb. 22-24 in Minneapolis, Minn.
The Mustangs finished with a score of 81.67 to defeat Ripon College (74.00) for the hip hop title.
Morningside added a third place finish in pom and a fifth place finish in jazz.
The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the pom competition with a score of 82.33. The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point finished second with a score of 82.00, followed by Morningside, 80.00; the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, 79.00; Viterbo University, 73.00; and Augsburg College, 72.33.
Winona State University had a score of 92.33 to win the jazz competition, followed by Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 87.33; the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, 87.00; Wisconsin-Green Bay, 83.33; Morningside, 77.33; Augsburg, 76.00; and Viterbo, 75.33.
Morningside College will host Dance and Cheer Day events on Monday, February 18, and Friday, March 15.
The events are in conjunction with Morningside’s Senior Visit Days also scheduled for those dates.
Prospective student-athletes will have an opportunity to meet with Morningside Cheer and Dance head coach Lindsey Christiansen and also audition for the Mustangs’ cheer and dance teams if they desire. The prospective student-athletes can also spend the night on campus with current team members of the Mustangs’ cheer and dance teams.

Morningside finished third in the College Division AA pom, jazz, and hip hop competitions at the 37th annual Iowa State Dance/Drill Team Championships held Nov. 29 and 30 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Mustangs competed against St. Ambrose, Central, Clarke, Simpson, Grand View, William Penn, Graceland, Wartburg, Buena Vista, Coe, Mount Mercy, and AIB College of Business.
There were over 5,000 participants representing 275 high school and 23 college teams.
The Mustang dance team is coached by Lindsey Christiansen.
