Dr. Marc Moody,
independent filmmaker and assistant professor at the University
of Hawaii School of Communications, will preview his film,
"Almost Normal,"
on Monday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. in
the U.P.S. Auditorium of the Lincoln Center , 3627
Peters Avenue. The event is part of the Academic and Cultural
Arts Series (ACAS) at Morningside and is free and open to
the public. 
Moody is the screenwriter
and director of the film, which was shot in Lincoln, Neb.,
in 2002. The film tells the story of a gay man experiencing
a mid-life crisis. When he gets transported back in time to
his high school years he discovers a world where being straight
is considered deviant behavior. To complicate matters, the
man falls in love with a woman.
Moody has won several
film and screenwriting awards, including the Hollis Parry
Fine Arts award for the film "Victor, The Wild Child of Averyon
- The Musical." He won first place for his film short
"Out There" at the 1997 Apple Avid Cinema Film Contest. As
a screenwriter he was winner of the Lee Rich/Warner Bros.
International Screenwriting competition and first place winner
at the Institute for Motion Picture Development's International
Screenwriting competition.
Moody holds master's
degrees in film and telecommunications and screenwriting from
Ohio University School of Film. He taught film studies and
new media production at Morningside from 2000 to 2003, and
currently teaches film/video production and screenwriting
at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
