Twenty-one Morningside College nursing students recently received their professional nursing pins at the 2008 Professional Beginnings Ceremony conducted at Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City.
During the ceremony, which signifies the student’s commitment to the nursing profession, each of the third-year nursing students received a pin commemorating the work of Florence Nightingale.
Sioux City students honored at the ceremony included Jenna Mansker, Maria Ruelas and Stefanie Ubben.
Other students from Iowa honored at the ceremony included Stephanie Eekhoff of Akron, Hanna Simonson of Algona, Theresa Cook of Ames, Brittany Benson of Cherokee, Honey Wear of Glenwood, Lauren Deichmann and Kelli Schreier of Marcus, Chelsea Swanson of Marne, Jerra Steffen of Moville, Anna Hammel of Sergeant Bluff, Kelsie Grave of Spencer and Catie Bobier of Westfield.
Nursing students from Nebraska included Sarah Fish of Coleridge, Cami Cain of Elkhorn, Angela Thoene of Hartington and Michaela Anderson of Omaha.
South Dakota students honored included Kalli Benne of Rapid City and Kristina Wong of Sioux Falls.
The ceremony included a welcome from Dr. William Deeds, vice president of academic affairs at Morningside, and an address by the college’s nursing faculty: Mary Kovarna, Jacklyn Barber, Sharlene Georgesen, Patricia Graham, and Lori Doeschot.
