Poet Jim Reese will read from his latest book These Trespasses on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the UPS Auditorium of the Lincoln Center, 3627 Peters Avenue, on the Morningside College campus.
The free event is part of Morningside’s Academic and Cultural Arts Series (ACAS) and the Sioux City Readings Series. The public is invited to attend.
Reese is the author of three books including These Trespasses, published in 2005 by Backwaters Press; The Jive, published in 2004 by Morpo Press; and Wedding Cake and Funeral Ham, published in 2002 by Grizzly Press. He is also co-editor of the anthology The Great American Road Show, published in 2003 by Logan House Press. His poetry was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2005 and his poetry and fiction have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies including New York Quarterly, Prairie Schooner, South Dakota Review, and others.
Raymond Hammond, editor-in-chief of the New York Quarterly, describes Reese’s work in “These Trespasses” as “refreshingly accessible…manages to layer myth and meaning upon a clean, crisp Midwestern vernacular, inventive imagery, and luscious sounds.”
Reese is assistant professor of English and director of the Plains Writers' Tour at Mount Marty College in Yankton, S. D. He is co-founder of and an editor for Logan House Press in Winside, Neb.
