The Morningside College Music Department will present a Family Weekend Concert at Morningside at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, in the Buhler Outdoor Performance Center, 3625 Garretson Ave.
Featured ensembles will include the Singing Men, Bel Canto women’s chorus, Morningside College Choir and Morningside Outdoor Band.
The Singing Men will perform traditional Morningside music, such as “Alma Mater” by Paul MacCollin and “Who Are the Brave” by J. Paul Williams and Joseph Martin. Bel Canto will perform the traditional folk song “The Turtle Dove” arranged by James Purifoy and featuring Morningside alumnus Andrew Goodell on cello. The Morningside College Choir will perform “Ezekul Saw de Wheel” by William Dawson and its traditional encore selection, “All That I Am” by Verna Arvey and William Grant Still. The Morningside Outdoor Band will play a variety of pep music.
The choral directors are Tim Watson, director of choral activities, and Jill Wilson, visiting instructor of music. For the Morningside Outdoor Band, the director is Cliff Towner, the field commander is Emily Cox and the assistant field commander is Autumn Collier.
