Acapella group Naturally 7 To Perform In Concert At Morningside College

The acapella group Naturally 7 will perform in concert on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Avenue.

The public is invited to the free event, which is sponsored by Morningside’s Academic and Cultural Arts Series (ACAS) and the Morningside Activities Council (MAC).

Naturally 7, whose members all hail from the New York Metropolitan Area, blends gospel, jazz, R&B, hip hop, and even classical vocal genres to build complex seven-part harmonies. Their program is normally a 50-50 balance of their own compositions and cover versions of hits such as Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” Extreme’s “More Than Words,” Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight,” and others.

The group was founded in 1999 by band member Roger Thomas and shortly afterwards won the New York City Harmony Sweeps Regionals, followed by a victory at the acapella National Finals in San Rafael, Calif.
Naturally 7 recently appeared with R&B legend Aretha Franklin at this year’s Montreux Jazz Festival held over Labor Day weekend at historic Underground Atlanta.
