Kimberly Christopherson |
Morningside College announces nine new faculty members, the return of two former faculty members, and the new appointment of a former visiting instructor.

The new faculty members are Dr. Kimberly Christopherson, assistant professor of psychology; Dr. Jessica de Vega, assistant professor of religious studies; Lori Doeschot, visiting associate professor of nursing education; Dr. William Heyborne, assistant professor of biology; Julie Keime, visiting instructor of business administration; Dr. Brenda Mammenga, assistant professor of mathematical sciences; Dr. Andrew Plumb, assistant professor of physics; Dr. Rachel Robson, assistant professor of biology; and Dr. Michael Smith, assistant professor of mathematical sciences.
Dr. Susan Burns has returned to Morningside after a semester at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, and Jeffrey Herlihy, assistant professor of modern languages, has returned after previously serving at Morningside as a visiting instructor.

In addition, B. Cathy Wilt was newly appointed assistant professor of education, moving from her position at Morningside as a visiting instructor.

William Heyborne |
Before coming to Morningside, Christopherson was an instructor at Northland Community and Technical College in East Grand Forks, Minn., and at the University of North Dakota. She holds a master’s degree and doctorate from the University of North Dakota.
De Vega previously was an instructor of religion and ethics at St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, Fla. She earned a master’s degree from United Theological Seminary in Trotwood, Ohio, and a doctorate from Florida State University.
Doeschot served on the faculty at Briar Cliff University before coming to Morningside College. She has a master’s degree from South Dakota State University.

Julie Keime |
Heyborne has a master’s degree from Oregon State University and a doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado. He taught previously at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Ore., and was an instructor and teaching assistant at the University of Northern Colorado.

Brenda Mammenga |
Keime previously was a finance manager for Qwest and an accounting unit supervisor for the Federal Reserve Bank in Denver. She has a master’s degree from the University of Denver.
Mammenga earned a master’s degree from South Dakota State University and a doctorate from North Dakota State University. She previously was an instructor and teaching assistant at North Dakota State University.
Plumb previously served as an adjunct instructor at Madison Area Technical College in Madison, Wis. He received both a master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Robson comes to Morningside from Doane College in Crete, Neb., where she was a visiting professor and a nominee for Doane’s Amazing Woman Award. She has a doctorate from the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Rachel Robson |
Smith was previously a visiting assistant professor of mathematics at Earlham College in Richmond, Ind. He earned a doctorate from the University of Virginia, where he received numerous awards for his teaching.
Burns returns to begin her sixth year of teaching at Morningside. She has a master’s degree from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, and a doctorate from Kansas State University.
Herlihy comes back to Morningside after serving as a visiting instructor at the college in the fall of 2006. He is expected to receive a doctorate from La Universidad Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain, yet this year.
Wilt has a master’s degree from Morningside College. She has completed post-graduate coursework in educational administration and is certified as an elementary principal and teacher evaluator. Wilt previously taught for 18 years in the Westwood Community School District.
