Scott Lanagan, certified crime scene analyst and deputy sheriff for the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office, will compare actual crime scene investigation techniques with those used in the CBS television crime drama “CSI,” on Monday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. in the UPS Auditorium of the Lincoln Center, 3627 Peters Avenue, on the campus of Morningside College.
The public is invited to the free event, which is sponsored by Morningside’s Academic and Cultural Arts Series (ACAS).
During his presentation, “Crime Scene Investigation: Reality Check,” Lanagan will show several short film clips from “CSI” to show how the television shows crime scene investigation techniques compare to those used in real life situations.
Lanagan has been with the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office since 1987. He received in service training as a crime scene technician for the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office under the supervision of Captain William Peterson in 1992. Lanagan was a park officer for the Woodbury County Conservation Board from 1980 to 1987.
