Christmas at Morningside is a unique musical tradition held in December at Morningside College. The theme of this year’s concert is “A Spotless Rose” and features such traditional selections as “Hark The Glad Sound,” “Lo How a Rose E’er Blooming,” and “Love Divine All Loves Excelling.”
Featured choral and instrumental ensembles will include Morningside College’s Bel Canto Women’s Chorale, Brass Quintet, Choral Union, College Choir, Morningside Camerata, Recorder Consort, and Singing Men.
Timothy Watson, assistant professor of music, will direct the College Choir and Singing Men and co-direct the Choral Union with Jill Wilson, director of the Leo Kucinski Academy of Music. Dr. Gerald Bouma, professor and chair of music at Morningside, will serve as narrator. Esther D’Agrosa and Joseph Shufro, associate professors of music, and Clifford Towner, assistant professor of music, will direct the choral and instrumental ensembles. Dr. Gail Dooley, soprano and associate professor of music, will perform as vocal soloist. Carolyn Price will serve as organist. Michele Grossman will serve as accompanist.
