Musical group Scratch Track to make appearance at Morningside College

The musical trio Scratch Track will perform at Morningside College on Friday, Oct. 14, at 8 p.m. at Buckingham’s Snack Bar in the lower level of the Olsen Student Center, 3609 Peters Avenue. Scratch Track is an acoustic trio that blends funk, folk, rock, gospel, and beat box to create a unique sound all its own.

The public is invited to the free event, which is sponsored by Morningside’s Academic and Cultural Arts Series (ACAS) and the Morningside Activities Council (MAC).

Scratch Track has been on an extensive tour in 2005; in fact, their Morningside appearance will be their fifth of six consecutive nights of performances. Acoustic guitarist Jason Hamlin and vocalists Will Gray and DJ Lee formed Scratch Track in 2000 after they met at Union University in Jackson, Tenn. They began to pursue a career in music following a favorable reception after they performed one of their songs at a college variety show.

The group moved to Martha’s Vineyard in 2002 and recorded their debut full-length CD “The Simple” that was released in 2003. Their follow up CD “Unreleased Sessions 2004” was released in October of that year. They plan to release an extended play recording with nationwide marketing this fall, followed by another full-length recording in spring of 2006.

Scratch Track has performed with the likes of George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Living Colour, Erykah Badu, Jars of Clay, and numerous other artists.
