Morningsider College campus continues to reach out to those affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita

Efforts to support survivors of hurricanes Katrina and Rita continue on the Morningside College campus.

Members of the fraternity Delta Sigma Phi will be "Bowling for Relief" on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 9:30 p.m. at Lewis Bowl, 3828 Stadium Drive, in Sioux City. Members are taking pledges for a penny per pin, or point scored, during two games. More than 25 members of the fraternity are expected to participate. Proceeds from the event will go to the American Red Cross, in support of the hurricane survivors. Persons who wish to donate to the event are asked to contact Eloy Garza, community service chairperson for Morningside’s chapter of Delta Sigma Phi, at (712) 204-4133.

Members of Morningside’s chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD), the National Honor Society for First Year Students, are collecting new or used children's books to replace those in libraries destroyed by hurricane Katrina. The book drive runs through the month of October, and the books will be distributed through the American Library Association. Donations can be made by contacting Marcie Ponder in the English department at Morningside College at (712) 274-5126.
