Morningside College recently announced six new employees in student services.
The new staff members are Guy Horn, head athletic trainer; Andy Poulosky, equipment manager; Kalie Vanderzyden, financial aid office assistant; Luke Vanderzyden, area coordinator/student engagement coordinator; and Whitney Gries and Whitney Wanderscheid, admissions counselors.
Horn previously worked at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge as co-head athletic trainer. In his position at Morningside, he is responsible for planning, developing and implementing an athletic training program for the care and prevention of injuries to student athletes. Horn has a master’s degree from Wayne State College in Nebraska.
Poulosky is working in his new position at Morningside to oversee transportation for the athletic department, supervise the Rosen-Verdoorn Weight Room, and maintain and distribute athletic equipment for all intercollegiate sports teams. Poulosky has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Kalie Vanderzyden came to Morningside from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, where she served as interlibrary loan and curriculum library coordinator. In her position at Morningside, she assists with the daily operation of the student financial planning office. She has a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.
Luke Vanderzyden previously worked at Northwest Enterprises in Sheldon, Iowa, where he was a vocational motivator and trainer. In his position at Morningside, he coordinates the day-to-day functions of assigned residence halls; coordinates the campus Leadership Academy, wellness halls and campus wellness programs; and collaborates with campus offices on the Sophomore Experience program. He has a master’s degree from Western Washington University in Bellingham.
Gries previously was a traveling admissions counselor for Morningside College, and Wanderscheid most recently was a buyer of women’s casual clothing for Von Maur in Davenport, Iowa. As full-time admissions counselors, they manage prospects in an assigned territory and provide information and guidance to prospective students and their families. Gries has a bachelor’s degree from Morningside College, and Wanderscheid has a bachelor’s degree from Drake University in Des Moines.
