Psychology honor society at Morningside receives Model Chapter Award

The Morningside College chapter of Psi Chi, an international honor society in psychology, received the Model Chapter Award for the 2009-2010 academic year from the Psi Chi National Council in Chattanooga, Tenn.

There are more than 1,000 Psi Chi chapters throughout the nation, and less than 50 receive this distinction each year.  This is the fifth year in a row that Morningside has received the award.

Model Chapter Awards are presented annually to recognize and reward Psi Chi chapters that consistently maintain outstanding records of membership inductions, chapter correspondence, service projects and other criteria associated with being an outstanding chapter.

Dr. Larry Sensenig, professor and chair of psychology, is the Morningside Psi Chi chapter’s faculty advisor.

The Morningside Psi Chi student officers for the 2009-2010 year were Amanda Martens of Shelby, Iowa, president; Samantha Fritsch of Neola, Iowa, vice president; Kaela Franken of Early, Iowa, secretary; and Heather Novacek of Valparaiso, Neb., secretary.
