Morningside College recognizes third-year nursing students

Morningside College recognized third-year nursing students recently at the 2010 Professional Beginnings Ceremony at Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City. During the ceremony, the students received pins commemorating the work of Florence Nightingale.

The event included a welcome by William Deeds, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, and an address by the nursing faculty: Mary Kovarna, Jacklyn Barber, Sharlene Georgesen, Lori Doeschot and Cheryl Harrington.

Sioux City students honored at the ceremony included Daniel Foreman, Monica Iverson Samantha Thiele and Lindsey Whitlock. Students from other parts of Iowa included Deidre Hinkeldey of Alta, Amanda Aschinger of Breda, Aaron King of Bronson, Kaci Stoneburner of Dayton, Amanda Bryan of Denison, Katherine Ericson of Hawarden, Whitney Postma of Ireton, Trisha Douvia of Le Mars, Kassandra Hein of Milford, Rebecca Lenhart of Storm Lake and Erica Luetje of Westside.

Students from other states included Nicole Van Heek of Crofton, Neb.; Nicole Gengler of Fremont, Neb.; Jessica Kuhr of Platte Center, Neb; Jessica Hudelson, Mary Nebelsick and Christina Stamp of Elk Point, S.D.; and Amanda Schwingler of Eureka, S.D.
