Area high school singers and professional musicians from Poland will be at Morningside College to present a concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave.
Singers from high schools in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota will spend the day at Morningside College participating in the Men in Song/Women in Song choral festival. Then they will perform what they have learned at the evening concert.
The concert will also feature the Polish Chamber Singers at 7:30 p.m. This ensemble will present a repertoire ranging from classical music to Polish folk songs to pop favorites, such as “Only the Lonely” by Roy Orbison, “Oh, Lady Be Good” by George Gershwin, and “Mrs. Robinson” by Paul Simon.
Tickets for the concert are $7 for students and $10 for adults.
Leading the Men in Song high school choral festival will be Tim Watson, director of choral activities at Morningside. Leading the Women in Song choral festival will be Jill Wilson, director of the Bel Canto Women’s Choir at the college.
