Counselor to present "Relationships: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"

Brenda CrawfordDr. Brenda Crawford, personal counselor at Morningside College, will present “Relationships: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” on Monday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. in the UPS Auditorium of the Lincoln Center, 3627 Peters Ave.

The public is invited to the free event, which is sponsored by Morningside’s Academic and Cultural Arts Series (ACAS).

Crawford will discuss techniques for promoting effective communication in interpersonal relationships and offer suggestions for navigating through difficult communication situations and conflicts. She will also present information on how to identify and avoid abusive relationships.

“The information, particularly good communication, can be used in any relationship that you have, not just a romantic relationship,” she said. “People say they communicate well, but communication can always be improved. I’ll talk a little bit about strategies for doing that.”

Crawford received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology and a doctorate in counseling psychology from Iowa State University in Ames. She has clinical experience in individual and group behavioral health services, including substance abuse, depression, domestic violence, eating disorders, and grief counseling, among others. She is a member of the American Psychological Association.
