An exhibit consisting
of contemporary and historical political memorabilia is on
display now through Nov. 14 in
the Hickman-Johnson-Furrow Library
Center.
The exhibit contains
items representative of the Republican and Democratic local
candidates as well as from the Bush and Kerry presidential
campaigns. It also includes past political campaign buttons
and brochures from presidential candidates Herbert Hoover,
Iowa gubernatorial candidates Jim Schaben, Robert Ray, Fred
Grandy, and Roxanne Conlin, 1948 Progressive Party presidential
candidate Henry Wallace, a wooden folding stool from the 1939
Townsend National Convention in Indianapolis, and two Whig
Party clothing buttons from the early 1800s. The historical
items are courtesy of Dr. Greg Guelcher, associate professor
of history at Morningside College.
Hours at the Hickman-Johnson-Furrow
Library Center are Mondays through Thursdays, 8 a.m. -
11 p.m.; Fridays, 8 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Saturdays, 1 p.m. -
5 p.m.; and Sundays, 1 p.m. - 11 p.m.
