ODK Honors Assembly recognized students and faculty

Alpha Lambda Delta, the freshman women’s honor society, recognized Meagan Anderson of Indianola, Iowa, as this year’s nominee for the national society’s Joanne Trow Award.
The Alpha Lambda Delta Senior Book Award, for the graduating member of the society with the highest grade point average, was presented to Abby Wagner, Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Phi Eta Sigma Senior Book Award, for the graduating member of the national freshmen honor society with the highest grade point average, went to Adam Webb, Grundy Center, Iowa.


Student-Athlete Scholar Awards were presented to Mark Roush of Marshalltown, Iowa; for the men’s division and to Crista Rustwick of Sioux City for the women’s division. The awards are based on cumulative grade point average and contributions to their sports.


National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Student Athlete of the Year Awards, based on the NAIA’s Champions of Character Initiative, were presented to Mark Roush of Marshalltown, Iowa, for the men’s division and to Kate Lokken of Denison, Iowa, for the women’s division.


Students who were recognized for three or more years of volunteer work as mentors for under-served middle school students with Project HOPE at Morningside were: Angela Dreyer, Hay Springs, Neb.; TaRae Evans, Sioux City; Valerie Gibson, Arnold, Neb.; Stephanie Livermore, Sioux City; Georgie Mrla, Lawton, Iowa; Amanda Nichols, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; Arynn Rasmussen, Manilla, Iowa; Susan Russell, Felton, Minn.; Leslie Stodden, Cherokee, Iowa; and Haruna Yamada, Sapporo, Japan.

Art


Marion Shapiro Art Award, presented in Shapiro’s memory by her family and friends to the student who best represents her commitment to excellence in art and life: Darija Ljubibratic, Sioux City.

American Advertising Federation Senior Advertising and Marketing Achievement Award: Kristi Sauer, Sheldon, Iowa.


Certificates of Completion for the Business Education Initiative were presented to Lesa Gillespie of Belfast, Northern Ireland; and Adrian McCauley of Donegal, Ireland.
