Morningside College will present its 18th annual Christmas at Morningside concert on Friday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave. The concert is free and open to the public. Doors to Eppley Auditorium open at 6:30 p.m.
This year’s concert, “In a Manger, Lowly,” celebrates the spirit of Christmas with new and traditional music performed by vocalists and instrumentalists. The concert will feature Morningside choral ensembles,
instrumental ensembles and soloists. Dr. Larry Schou, dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of South Dakota, will be a featured performer on the Sanford Memorial Organ. The Angel Dancers from Ballet Sioux, under the direction of Tracy Bennett, also will perform.
Tim Watson and Jill Wilson, assistant professors of music, direct the Morningside Master Chorale, Singing Men of Morningside, Bel Canto Singers, Morningside College Choir and Eclectix Jazz Choir. Instrumental ensembles that will perform include the Symphonic Wind Ensemble under the direction of Shane Macklin, assistant professor of music and director of bands, and the Morningside Brass Ensemble under the direction of Tony Hutchins, assistant professor of music and director of instrumental jazz.
